About Mark

I’m the Student Minister at Houston's First Baptist Church – Sienna Campus, where I get the privilege of helping students develop a deep, lasting faith in Jesus. I’m the author of The Imperfect Church and Disciple Tracks, and I host the Reconstructing Youth Ministry Podcast, where I have conversations about building healthier, discipleship-focused ministries in a rapidly changing culture.

I’m passionate about teaching God’s Word with theological depth, practical application, and honesty about the real challenges students, parents, and ministry leaders face today. Whether I’m speaking at camps, retreats, leadership events, or parent trainings, my goal is always the same: helping people move beyond shallow Christianity and follow Jesus in authentic, everyday ways.

More importantly, I’m Christi’s husband and dad to three awesome boys. I also love the Ohio State Buckeyes football, coffee, Texas BBQ, and 90s music…which was obviously the greatest decade of music ever.

Speaking

I’ve been teaching in church settings for more than 20 years, and few things bring me more joy than opening God’s Word with people. If you’re looking for biblical, practical, and encouraging teaching for your next event, I’d love the opportunity to serve your group.

Podcasting

I started a podcast because I wanted a place to have conversations about building healthier, deeper, and more discipleship-focused student ministries in a rapidly changing culture. Each episode helps parents and youth pastors to address the issues our students are dealing with.

Writing

My writing is designed to help people think deeply, follow Jesus faithfully, and lead with greater clarity. Whether I’m writing about discipleship, parenting, or ministry leadership, my goal is always practical theology that shapes real life. Click the link below to learn more.
